The United States and Colorado have made strong progress in a relatively short period of time on recognizing marriage equality and other LGBTQ rights. But there is still much work to be done. For example, it is still legal for government contractors to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identification. It is still legal for some businesses and employers to discriminate against LGBTQ individuals. This kind of legalized hate sends a message that it is socially acceptable to assault or harass LGBTQ people. It also sends a message to LGBTQ youth. Too many LGBTQ teens are at risk for suicide and other self-destructive behaviors.

As a teacher, Bob has worked tirelessly to provide opportunities and an equal education for all of his students, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. As your Representative, Bob will continue to work for equality for all Americans.
